News:
Sparks
start Flyin' (9/05/09)
After a
successful College of Technology picnic, the team picked up 7 new members
from 4 different majors. The team is now 12
people strong with more
to come. It has been a busy week, we are officially registered for the 2010
competition (car #14) and
we will be pacing orders
for many of our parts and chassis supplies this week. It is great getting
the team together and letting
the ideas come out. 122
days to competition.
Down to
Business (8/28/09)
Classes start on Monday.
Those of us who have been around campus have been spending some time in the
lab getting organized.
Now that the Dynamometer
is out of the way we have a lot more room to work with. We will begin having
regular meetings on
Tuesday and rest assured
we will be spending a lot of time in the lab in the next few weeks. We hope
to get the main roll hoops
bent in the next couple
weeks so we can begin chassis construction. Stay tuned...
Ready to
Roll (7/16/2009)
In about a month we are
headed back to school. The summer has flown by. We have all been working on
our designs and
trying to secure
sponsorship for the year. Times are tough and many companies are struggling
to stay afloat let alone have
money laying around to
donate. We are going to be making some trips to school in the next couple
weeks to set up our
shop and make sure that
we are ready to roll when we return so that we can get straight to work. We
have a ambitions timeline
and to stick to it we are
going to have to stay on the ball.
Summer
Break?? (5/17/2009)
Well, we have all been out of school now for a little more than a week. The
team got together before finals and talked about
what each of us hope to
accomplish over the summer. We also got two new team members. Hybrid is now
5 strong and I
think that number will
grow again in the fall. Though this is supposed to be a time that we can
relax a little without the stress
of school, we are all
working diligently on our designs so that come fall we are ready to build.
Summer yes... break no.
A Busy
Week (4/24/09)
This past Tuesday the team attended SAE World Congress in Detroit, MI. We
talked to a lot of companies
and hopefully
made some good contacts for sponsorships. Then Friday We went back down
to the Detroit area (Auburn Hills) to take a
tour of the Chrysler Tech. Center. It is a
pretty impressive facility but it is also a clear representation of the
current state of
the
automotive market and the economy.
The
team is Official! (3/25/09)
After a very successful meeting on the 23rd with the Dean of the College of
Technology we were approved as
a new team
under the SAE Student Organization here on campus. Though we have
already started planning, it is good to gain the full
support of the school.
